New features in jsf-1-19-17 are
- Source files for Pythia is not included. Please get it from http://www.thep.lu.se/~torbjorn/Pythia.html, save in share/pythia6 directory, and set its version number in the variable, PYTHIA_SUBVERSION, of the file conf/configure.in.
- New feature of this release includes,
  1. include interface to HERWIG.
  2. include interface to Matrix Element generator and Parton Shower generator with User Process format.
  3. interface to Jupiter
  4. Addapt to gcc3.2 compiler.

New features in jsf-1-19-1 are
- Pythia6.206 was included. Now, JSF uses Pythia6 libraries if configuration parameters in conf/configure.in are set to use Pythia6. Please note that to use Pythia6, LCLIB and ROOT must be also compiled to use same version of Pythia library. If Pythia version of LCLIB specified in $LCLIBROOT/conf/configure.in is not same as JSF's Pythia version, make will fail.
- New class to generate BeamStrahlung spectrum is prepared. It is installed in $JSFROOT/share/bsgen directory. To use this routine, use need to down load bsdata file. If you have wget command, bsdata file can be installed by,

       $ make getdata
```
  at the JSFROOT directory.
These are main changes since jsf-18-15. Compare to jsf-1-18-1, jsf-1-19-1 includes
- Interfaces to JETNET
- Many small changes.

There are a lot of minar changes since jsf-1-16-15. Changes were performed only in CVS repository, but now tar file is created from the latest CVS repository. Some of changes since jsf-1-16-15 were,
- Installation on IBM AIX system and MacOS X system
- Bugs to use new I/O function of Root 3.0 was fixed. Due to this modification, output file is not compatible with the previous version.
- Wrong scaling of Bases++ histogram was fixed.
- ZVTOP program is included in share directory. Errors in original version were throughly checked out.
- When latest LCLIB library is used, random seed of QuickSim and PythiaGenerator can be saved so as to restart event in the middle of run.
- Gamma and mixed-gamma track in JSFLTKCLTrack has a pointer to JSFGeneratorparticle

Since new version of Root, Root 3.00.01, was released, the latest development version of jsf is released as jsf-1-16-15. This version includes switches so that it can be compiled with both Root 3.00.01 codes and Root 2.25.03. The new feature of automatic schema evolution was not implemented yet. They will be released as jsf-1-17.
Other changes form the previous versions are,
- buildjsf command can build a sample analysis program.
- A bug in JIM data display was fixed
- New example to prepare JIM input MC data using PythiaGenerator in a framework of jsf is included.

Major changes in this release are,
- Classes for vertex finding( JSFVertexing) and vertex fitting( JSFGeoCFit and JSFVirtualFit) are included. These classes use JSFDMatrix class for matrix calculation, which is double precession version of ROOT's TMatrix class. The performance of vertex fitting is described in this document and examples will be found in example/v0tag directory of this release.
- Classes for Bases/Spring event generator, JSFSpring and JSFBases, are modified to use C++ version of Bases/Spring which is newly developped by Prof. Setsuya Kawabata, KEK. There are imcompatibilities in old and new JSFSpring and JSFBases classes and user event generator must be modified. Example about how to modify will be found in example/ww. Note that histograming program is written by C++ code. Thus it is not easy to call histograming package from the user function written by fortran. Random number generator, DRN(iseed), is not available neither. in example/ww, the function ran in LCLIB/util/fortlib/src are used for easy program translation. But it is recommended to convert them to C++ code.
  There are two types of histograming, one is Bases/Spring built-in histograming, the other uses ROOT's histograming packages. Built-in histograming package can not be saved in the file, while the speed of histograming using ROOT package is not as fast as built-in packages. Better method may be implemented in future.
- JSFSteer::SetReturnCode(flag) are prepared so that user module can return return code to change the program flow.

Major changes in this release are,
- To define jlc detector parameter of 3 tesla solenoidal field, lclib is changed to lclib-2000-1. In this modification, common block area used for track-cluster matching are increased so as to allow smaller segmentation of calorimeter. Consequently, JSFQuickSim class is modified following the change of common block size in lclib.
- Several small modification to run with root.2.23.11 are included. However, when used together with 2.23.11, jsf crashes after drawing histogram or x3d display window is closed. This is because the pointer to GUI pannel object, gui ( defined in gui.C macro ), becomes unusable after drawing histogram of x3d pictures. Event display works fine as before. The solution to the problem is not obtained yet. (written 25-Jan-2000)

Major changes in this release are,
- New class, JSFEnv, is created so as to unify parameter input through a file, jsf.conf, command line arguments, and JSF control panel. For its description, see parameter.ps.gz.
- A new directory, example/demo, is created. Files in this directory is used at KEK Open House held on 15-September, 1999.

Major changes in this release are,
- Add new class, JSFReadParton. This class is to read data for JSFSpringParton class from a Fortran binary or ASC-II format file. They can be hadronized by JSFHadronizer class, then simulated by JSFQuickSim class. This class will be a very simple interface to event genertors which generate only parton information. ( "parton" means quark, lepton, or photon ). An example will be found in $JSFROOT/example/readparton.
- A function, GetLastRunInfo(TFile*) is added in JSFSteer class. This function is to read data which is stored at the end run. To do this, structure in conf directory is changed backward-imcompatiblly. The conf directory is a place where the data at the Initialization, Begin Run, End Run and Termination are saved. Now, classes such as PythiaGenerator, JSFSpring, JSFHadronize, JSFQuickSim, DebugGenerator, save seeds of random number at the end of run. A function, GetLastRunInfo, can be used to retrieve the seeds so that to start new run from the seeds at the end of last run. An example to use GetLastRunInfo can be found in $JSFROOT/example/FFbarSpring/nsim.C After executing sim.C, use nsim.C, and see new sequence of events are generated.
- A new class, JSFMergeEvent, is added. This class is to simulate piledup events.
- Several scripts in $JSFROOT/example/guiexam1 are moved to $JSFROOT/macro directory. Copy a file, $JSFROOT/macro/dot.rootrc, to ~/.rootrc. Then you can use gui.C without putting it in the working directory.
- A function, JSFHelicalTrack::SetTrackByFitToCyl(...) is added. This is to make a helical fit to the space points of cylindrical geometry. It uses TMinuit class and can be used any detector with cylindrical geometry.

Changes in this release are,
- Include patches to run with ROOT.2.22/06 and RedHat 6.0
- Add example/jsfjim directory as an example to run jim simulation in jsf framework. To build jsfjim application, timel.o in $LCLIBROOT/lib/libFORTLIB.a must be removed by,

  until the new lclib is released.

Changes in this release are,
- There were change in QuickSimulator in lclib, namely, inclusion of multiple scattering effects in CDC/VTX track smearing and increase of buffer for VTX layer information so that user can define up to 20 VTX/IMT layers. JSFQuickSim and related classes were modified accordingly.
- It turned out that 4 byte length variable is necessary to store particle ID data of SUSY particles such as LSP in JSFGeneratorParticle class. This class and JSFSIMDST classes are modified accordingly. Updated SIMDST format, version 2.03, is described in http://acfahep.kek.jp/subg/sim/simdst.
- Add several functions in JSFBases and JSFLCFULL classes to fortran program from Macro.
- Several bugs, such as
  - Memory leak in JSFCDCTrack::MovePivotToIP is fixed. I thank Dr. Hyunwoo Kim for pointed out the problem.
  - When events were generated by PythiaGenerator class and mu and tau were included in the initial parton list, their vertex points were moved improperly and they produce fake signal in HDC without creating VTX/CDC signals. The bugs was fixed.

Changes in this release are,
- Bug in JSFCDCTrack::MovePivot was fixed. The most serious bug in the previous version was that dr of track parameter was not updated when pivot is moved. Therefore, when pivot was moved to IP, for example, dr does not give correct impact parameter. There are also several problem in calculating error matrix. In this release these problems are solved.
  To help moving pivot to IP, JSFCDCTrack:AddMSError and JSFCDCTrack::MovePivotToIP are created. The former is to include the effect of Multiple scattering in the error matrix. MovePivotToIP is specially to extrapolate track to IP. This is a recommended routine for track extrapolation to IP. However, if track does not come from IP, what will happen is not tested.
  There was also a problem in lclib-98a-5. Please also apply lclib-98a-5.src.patch-990507.tar.gz to your lclib source file.
- A example to read JIM output data is included. It is in example/readjim. rjim.C in this directory read JIM data into JSFSIMDST class. This program is tested with JLCSIM version 1.00.32. Please note that this is test version. Some work is still required to insure data compatibility.
- There are backward-incompatible changes in example/guiexam1/gui.C, MainMacro.C, and UserAnalysis.C. The reason of change is to enable batch execution of gui.C script. In addtion, the menu of JSF control panel is enriched to read JIM data. A bug in setting file name by Open file dialog is believed to be fixed.
jsf-1-7.src.patch-19990420.tar.gz(20-April-1999) This patch includes two source files, DebugGenerator.css and JSFGeneratorParticles.cxx. In jsf-1-7, JSFGeneratorparticle class is modified so that body of constructor are defined in the source file, instead of the header file. That seems to change the behaviour of the constructor function. The modification to solve the problem is included in the patch.

PythiaGenerator class

  cd $JSFROOT

When PythiaGenerator class was modified in jsf-1-7 to save documentation lines of LUJETS common, a bug was introduced. Due to this bug pointers to a mother of non-decayed particles are not set. As a results, starting point of all tracks are at IP. This causes serious effect for analysis using vertexing. It may also affect the analysis of events including particles such as K0. Thus if you are using PythiaGenerator class, please apply this patch. Only src/PythiaGenerator.cxx must be modified.
It was also reported that JSFReadGenerator class can not setup parent-child relation among particles properly. The modification to fix this problem is included.
To run JSF with root 2.21/08, one line in src/JSFSteer.cxx must be modified. This patch includes the modified source. Now, the system for JSF development uses Redhat 5.2, egcs-1.1.1 and root 2.21/08. To use egcs-1.1.1, -lf2c in lists of link library specified in Imakefile must be modified to -lg2c. To detect egcs version of your system and select -lf2c or -lg2c automatically, a script bin/makespec is created. The script saves system information in conf/spec, which is included in a Makefile when xmkmf is executed. bin/makespec script is executed by make install command. These new feature is tested only on my system. If it causes problems, please let me know.

jsf-1-7(9-April-1999) Get source file
Changes in this release are,
- A new class, JSFReadGenerator, is added. This class reads generator data written by Fortran program, which can be used for simulator, etc. It can read the HEPEVT format data and how to prepare data is described in here. The example program to create sample data is in the source files, $JSFROOT/example/simdst/makehepevt.F, and Readme file in the same directory describes how to make. The scripts, $JSFROOT/example/simdst/simdst.C and $JSFROOT/macro/MainSimdst.C, are also modified so that it can read generator files. For example, to read the generator file, do

  $ jsf --type=FILENAME simdst.C
```
  where FILENAME is a name of generator file.
```
  $ jsf --help simdst.C
```
  will print other command line arguments.
- Following the changes in lclib-98a-5, PythiaGenerator class is modified so that all documentation lines in LUJETS common are kept in JSFGeneratorParticle calss and simdst data.
- The default detector parameters defined by JSFQuickSimParam class is modified to use the latest parameter set in $LCLIBROOT/simjlc/param/detect7.com. If you need to change the file name of the detector parameter, prepare include a line,

JSFQuickSim.ParameterFile : [FILENAME]
```
  in a file, jsf.conf. [FILENAME] is your detector parameter file name.

jsf-1-6(1-April-1999) Get source file
Classes related to the Quick Simulator is modified to follow the changes in lclib to create smeared VTX track parameter and hits points of Intermediate Tracker. The format of SIMDST is also modified to store response of EM particles and HD particles separately in Calorimeter's hit cell information. For more details, see ChangeLog.
jsf-1-5(10-March-1999) Get source file
Changes in this version are described in ChangeLog.
First example of 3D event display and GUI are included. To use them, do

       $ cd $JSFROOT/example/guiexam1
       $ jsf gui.C
```
When executed JSF control panel is displayed. User can control JSF execution from this panel.

- All detector view
  cyan and red boxes are HDC and EMC hit cells, green lines are CDC tracks. Inner radius and outer radius of wire-frame cylinder corresponds to the inner radius of EMC and HDC, respectively.
- Region near Interaction region
  yellow lines are generated charged track, purple squares are VTX hits, with 200 micron meter square. Two cylinders shown by wire-frame are VTX's inner most and outer most layers.
jsf-1-4(16-Feburary-1999) Get source file
There are several changes to produce SIMDST. For more details, please see ChangeLog.
Please see HowToInstall to install the program. You have to define LCLIBROOT and CERN_ROOT environment variables, in addition to JSFROOT and ROOTSYS.
- jsf-1-4 has been tested on HI-UX and Redhat 5.1, using ROOT 2.20.06. On Redhat 5.1, egcs-1.0.2 and CERNLIB 98 are used. On HI-UX, egcs-1.0.3 and CERNLIB 97a. (revised 19-Feburary-1999)
- Patch jsf-1-4.src.patch-990217.tar.gz to fix typo in JSFSIMDST.h and to use data member of JSFGeneratorParticle class in a macro. If you just want to create SIMDST data, you don't need to apply this patch. To apply patches, get the file and do tar zxvf in $JSFROOT directory.
- There was a typo in HowToInstall. You don't need to set ROOT environment variable. Instead, do "setenv ROOTSYS < root-directory >".
- There was a report from the user using ROOT 2.21/03 that ld fails due to unresolved reference to G__cpp_setupG__Pythia(). In that case, please replaced it in jsfmain.cxx to G__cpp_setupPYTHIA_G__Pythia(). I can not test it, because I'm using 2.20.06, but I hope this works.
- There was a problem to run on HP-UX 10.2 with aCC compiler. The problem is fixed by installing jsf-1-4.src.patch-990219.tar.gz(19-Feburary-1999)
