As I already reported in my answer to your previous mail,
the maximum likelihood fit option is currently not active in TH1::Fit
although most hooks for the implementation are there.

Note that you can invoke directly the Minuit package from Root
and use all possible kinds of minimization models.
We give an example (C++ program) in $ROOTSYS/test/minexam.cxx
