Hi Stephen,

the three provided makefile front-ends are for
linux with glibc -- Makefile.linux
linux with egcs/glibc -- Makefile.linuxegcs
HP-UX with aCC -- Makefile.hpuxacc

To get a Makefile for linux with gcc and no glibc take
the Makefile.linux and remove the -DR__GLIBC from the
FLAGS definition.
