Red Hat 5/Linux 2.0.31

When i try running ROOT v2.0 on a linux, RedHat 5.0
Kernel 2.0.31 on an i686
i get an immediate segmentation fault...

i can successfully run cint.
i can run h2root, and it works, but before it quits it gives a
segmentation fault.

Has anyone else run root succesfully on this kernel/system?
