5.4 CALORIMETER R&Ds
Requirements
- Single-particle energy resolution for hadrons be
better than 40
- Single-particle energy resolution for EM particles be
better than 15
- Very fine granularity ( be verified by full-simulation)
- Hermetic structure
- Timing resolution of 1 - 2ns to avoid event overlapping
- Resonable radiation hardness.
Algorithm
- Reconstruct single-particle clusters even for closely-located showers.
(Granularity)
- Assign correct energy for every reconstructed cluster.
(Energy Resolution)
- Delete clusters which are generated by BG photons as shower albedos.
- Delete clusters which are generated by charged particles.
Cluster & Delete is the best way to account for fluctuation,
even though correct clustering is challengingly difficult for hadrons.
? Can we dissolve overlapping showers with extremely-fine granularity ?
Design
Hardware-compensating Tile/Fiber calorimeter (with lead and plastic scintillator)
Options
See Matsunaga-san's talk for detail.
