2004-Mar-11 T545 Measurement Plan (version v.2.2) Yoshiaki Fujii [I] Detectors to be tested 1) NEM (Tile/Fiber EMcal) OEM (Organic Semiconductor EMcal by Niigata) SEM (Solar-Cell EMcal by Niigata) 2) TEM (Strip Array EMcal By Tsukuba) 3) KSMX (Fiber-readout Strip-Array SHmax by Kobe) a) with bare-EBCCD readout b) with assembled-EBCCD readout c) with HPD readout d) with HAPD readout 4) SSMX (Direct-readout Strip-Array SHmax by Shinshu) a) with APD readout b) with SiPM readout 5) JEM (Tile/Fiber EMcal made by JINR/DLNP) [II] Summary Table of Test Items and Estimated Shifts needed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sub-detector NEM TEM KSMX SSMX OEM/SEM JEM tuning total ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dedicated Shifts 7 7 5 3 1 4 4 31 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Setup and tuning 8h 8h 4hx4 8h 4h 8h ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note:NEM wants to test by itself; namely without PreSH/SHmaxes. SSMX, KSMX, TEM will be tested together. PreSH will be pulled out if necessary. JEM will be tested separately, replacing NEM totally. TEM will stay through the period at most downstream location. Note:Muon calibration can be done with several detectors at once using totally penetrating muons (Presumably TEM & KSMX & SSMX). Muon mapping must be done one by one, no other detectors in front of the detector under mapping. Note:Above lists dedicated shifts only. If there are any measurement which can be done parasite, they are bonus. Note:5cm x 5cm trigger counters be used. DAQ improvement assumed. 10cm x 10cm counter will be used for DC calibration. Note:Slightly de-focused beam will be used for muon calibration of strips if muon intensity is not the limitting factor (namely if DAQ-PC-limited). [III] Various conditions for time estimation 1.Event rate and DAQ rate a.DAQ capability (=inclusive rate) T517 achieved = 10Hz average (used for T545 application) T545 base-line = 30Hz average (used for Kobe meeting) T545 stretch = 60Hz average (if DMA available) b.electron rate T517 achieved = 1.5Hz average (3cm x 3cm T3, narrow slit) T545 base-line = 3Hz average (5cm x 5cm T3, wider slit) c.muon(MIP) rate T517 achieved = muon tagger -> ??% of DAQ capacity =??Hz average T545 baseline = MIP trigger -> 70% of DAQ capacity =20Hz average T545 stretch = MIP trigger -> 70% of DAQ capacity =40Hz average 2.Number of Necessary Events a.muon calibration = 2000muons/tile,strip =2minutes/point (base rate) sigma/mean(=30%) /sqrt(1000) = 1%, x2 margin for all tiles/strips b.electron calibration = 2000 electrons/tile,strip =12minutes/point sigma/mean(=15%) /sqrt(1000) = 0.5%, x2 margin only for near-center tiles/strips c.Energy Response = 5000 electrons/point = 30minutes/point E=1,2,3,4GeV Injection point=3(tile; module center, boundary, tile corner) Injection point=2(strip;module center, boundary) d.mapping with MIPs = 400k MIPs/point = 6hours/point (base rate) NEM; center, side x2(normal,fiber-hole), corner x2(on/off-WLS) =5points TEM; center, side, end x2, 4GeV-muon =5points [IV] Necessary time for each module Note that moving stage takes more time than switching trigger. Measurement sequence must be optimized to minimize stage move. Point-to-point position change assumes five minutes.
