We have been told that the US based comparative evaluation of cold or warm

machines is essentially ready for release.　 We urge that this report be

made available to ITRP as early as possible, hopefully well before the DESY

site visit.　 This will give the ITRP members ample opportunity to study the

report prior to the visit and it will give DESY the opportunity to answer

questions or respond to the study.

Likewise, it would be useful for us to know of any similar studies being

done in Europe or Japan.　 In particular, we understand that there is a

comparative cost analysis underway in Japan and perhaps something similar

in Europe.　 As ITRP begins to consider how it will approach cost issues, it

would be particularly useful to have as much independent costing input as

possible.

Please let me know of any comparative analysis (costing or otherwise) that

is underway, and what inputs we might expect during our decision making

process and when we might anticipate receiving them.
