Just one note.

We should not forget ROOT and ROOT users are still using Fortran
compiler as well. I see no claim VC++ 6.0 is compatible with Digital
Visual Fortran v. 5.0. Very likely switching to VC++ 6.0 leads to
switching to Digital Visual Fortran v.6.0 as well.
